The courage to change is a sign of hope (2.2 min read)

Life can suck,

Life can be unfair,

Heck, life can even play dirty tricks on you!

So what can you do? (HINT, it’s not “cry about it”).

You make that life, which you probably think is beyond fixing, work.

Italy beat all odds in its 2018 March elections, when a party named the Five Star Movement (MoVimento 5 Stelle) won the majority seats. A party co-founded in 2009 by an Italian comedian, Beppe Grillo, whose last name means cricket by the way.

Whatever your political opinion may be about this party is beyond the scope of this article.

My point is how life in Italy has gone from bad to horrible for its people from the mid 90s till today. With politicians changing laws to their own benefits and youth dreaming of a life in LA (before the Trump era), or London (before Brexit) and maybe now Dubai. Youth leaving their homeland because of matters like temporary work contracts that only lead to underpaid employees and instability. Not to mention the unemployment rate and the love/hate relationship of the MADE IN ITALY brand, which the Made in China brand is replacing. Not to mention the convicted politician who decided to still be part of this year’s elections.

Life sucked, it was unfair and it played dirty games on Italians. But what did Italians do in March 2018? They’re making life work again, by saying no more to the status quo and demanding change.

The road ahead of Italians is still long, even with this change. It’s not going to be easy; no one said it would be easy though.

If a whole nation was able to get together (we know how difficult that can be. Don’t you? Then think of your own little town and how complicated and stressful it is to be on the same page when politics are involved) and start to make life work, what makes you think you can’t?

YOU can psyche yourself to do anything. You are in the driving seat of your life. That’s proven scientifically, you become what you wish, one day at a time and make history.

Next time you think about giving up on life…think about my beloved Italy!
